Murphy Update - May 10th

May 3rd, 2011
Murphy's stitches and staples came out a week ago today - which, well made the wound look pretty gruesome and necessitated continued cone wearing...

Friday we left for TMAC and I really wasn't keen on Murphy riding loose in the second row of the van - partially because he's a wicked shoplifter, but mostly because it's just not safe. So I took a leap of faith, and a dab of bitter cherry gel around the incision and put him in his van crate for the first time since the morning of the surgery. SUCCESS! No licking!

Not sure about the exposure here
the wound isn't this pink in real life.
When we got to the motel Friday night he was just as good about leaving it alone. So after twenty-three straight days of living in a cone of shame - freedom, sweet freedom! More progress! Now - nearly a month after the mass removal, we're FINALLY on the right side of this process.

Still no chewies for Murphy while his gum continues to heal - soon though which is a good thing, because he's really missing his nightly rawhide!

Ain't no cones on me.....Zzzzzzzz!
